
Representative Curt Sonney is currently serving his fourth term in the state House after being elected to represent
Erie County’s 4th Legislative District in November 2004. A dedicated family man, avid sportsman and active member of Faith Lutheran Church in
Harborcreek, Sonney is committed to improving the quality of life for Erie County’s families through improved job creation and economic development, education, and reducing the cost of health care. He is also committed to ensuring government lives within its means, just as families and individuals must do the same.

Sonney serves on the following four House committees: Appropriations, where he is a member of the Subcommittee on Economic Impact and Infrastructure; Insurance; Liquor Control, where he is a member of the Licensing Sub-Committee; and Professional Licensure. He is also a member of the Core Communities, Diabetes, Early Childhood Education, Energy, Firefighters and Emergency Services, Hunger, Legislative Career and Technical Education, Life Science, Motorsports, Property Tax, Second Amendment and Timber caucuses. In addition, Sonney has been appointed to the Soldiers and Sailors Home Veterans Advisory Council for 2011-2012 session.
A lifelong
Harborcreek Township resident, Sonney has worked in the private sector his entire life. He was a self-employed contractor before taking a job with American Sterilizer, now Steris Corporation, in 1990. Sonney is a former member of the United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America.
Recognizing education is a lifelong journey, Sonney has attended classes at Erie County’s Vo-Tech and has taken engineering courses at Penn State Behrend. Sonney understands the importance of a skilled workforce and believes education and job-training are two of the most important investments leading to job creation.
Sonney is the son of James and Shirley Sonney of Harborcreek. He and his wife Cathy reside in Harborcreek Township. They have three children and two grandchildren.
The Fourth Legislative District includes the City of Corry; the townships of Amity, Concord, Greene, Greenfield, Harborcreek, Leboeuf, North East, Union, Venango, and Wayne; and the boroughs of Elgin, Mill Village, North East, Union City, Wattsburg and Wesleyville.
